Exciting News: Utah Legislation

I want to take a moment and say thank you for allowing SafePassage Global the privilege of being able to provide support for the families you serve. The past two years have been quite the journey as the Therapeutic Community navigated our way through the uncharted waters of Covid-19 pandemic and the ups and downs of its aftermath.

Once SafePassage Adolescent Services, SafePassage Global combines 22 years of established business practices with 27 years of field experience to provide an uninterrupted paradigm of care for at-risk adolescents, young children and adults who need to assistance of a professional transport team to accompany them to treatment. SafePassage Global has worked diligently throughout our existence to educate nay-sayers on the positive virtues of our intervention-based model for transport and how safety-first protocols yield positive outcomes for those in our care. Safe transports happen because we teach trauma informed care, verbal de-escalation, paraverbal communication, trust-transference. With these foundational tools, our Teams actively engage with those in our care and process through as each transport is occurring; so, as the mind remembers the kindness of newcomers, the body has no trauma to which it can cling. No question goes unanswered; and every need is met within the parameters of our safety-first protocols. Safety and transparency are paramount; each student is introduced to their Team; informed where they are going and who made the decision; and are provided a basic itinerary so as to remove the mystique and establish trust from the beginning. Minors are not permitted the use of electronic devices nor permitted conversation with strangers as these measures help maintain the integrity of the transport and keep the decisions of the parents private.

Additionally, SafePassage Global has made a pathway for young children on the spectrum to be able to travel to treatment with a parent. Often young children who are considered low functioning, non-verbal and on the spectrum exhibit trust for only one person do not respond to trust-transference and need to have that parent or guardian travel with them. SafePassage Global is proud to be able to meet this need.

SafePassage Global is proud to be a founding member of the Association for Mediation and Transport Services. Over the past two-plus years we have worked to bring professional transport companies together, establish standards of practice and a code of ethics to which we all ascribe. Through these efforts we have been able to bring the Transport Community out of the shadows of human trafficking and be recognized for the professional service we provide. We further strengthened the therapeutic community by co-authoring and crafting legislation in Utah that makes sense. Utah will establish a registry, licensing and structure for experienced, legitimate companies and require insurance, background checks and no kickbacks. We are excited about Utah authenticating what we have been doing for almost three decades and providing a pathway for us to support for their third largest GDP: the Therapeutic Community.

It is a comfort knowing the adolescents we bring to your campus will be treated with dignity, respect and cared for in a manner that under girds our mission.
